I love me some college football. But what I DON’T love is the thug mentality of some of the kids. It follows them into the NFL and they think they can get away with anything (except dog fighting, that is a no-no). I am not sure when it started. OJ Simpson was well past his NFL years when he killed his wife. Oh, and got away with it.

I bring this up because I caught the end of the Georgia/Auburn game last night (which ended with a couple of Auburn players throwing punches and getting kicked out of the game and part of the game next week). The commentators were singing the praises of Cam Newton and all this stuff he is “overcoming.”
WHAT?
First of all, Mississippi State had someone ask for money to get Cam to come there. Now, that is not necessarily his fault, or that of his family, although there are some rumors running around about the father’s church having to meet building requirements and money needed.
Then Cam apparently left the University of Florida to go to Auburn because Tim Tebow was going to stay his senior year to play, preventing Cam from getting playing time. Never mind that about that time Cam was accused of cheating while at Florida. Oh, and he stole a laptop too.
But that is OK, because he can throw a football well. In a way I feel for this kid having the father of the year as a dad and people covering up for him everywhere. God forbid he gets hurt and can’t play anymore, because no one will be there for him then. It will be just him and his thug mentality and the only uniform he may end up wearing is prison orange.
