SAVE TIME AND MONEY WITH E-MEALZ MEAL PLANS

Word for Wednesday – Into the Fire

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. – 1 John 3:16)

As some of you may know, my husband is a volunteer firefighter. He is not as active as he would like to be since we live one town over from where he volunteers. We are fortunate in our area too not to have too many fires – just stuff set on fire by drunks. But should there be a catastrophic fire, he and his brothers will be there.

This week the firefighting community lost two of their own in the town of Rocky Mount, VA. The chief and another officer were responding to a call when a woman in a SUV struck their truck causing them to swerve out of control and land on another car. Both men were killed. Those in the other vehicles were not seriously hurt. The accident is still being investigated – the woman had the green light, but the sirens were going. Whether or not the officers had their seat belts on has yet to be stated.

I have a great amount of respect for those who put themselves in danger to save others – especially those who volunteer to do so. It takes a special kind of person and it is no wonder that so many that I come across are Christians.

Please say an extra prayer tonight for the families of these men – Fire Chief and Vice Mayor Posey Dillon and William Daniel “Danny” Altice. And pray for and thank God for those who help give us a sense of peace in our lives knowing that someone is out there protecting us and our family.
