Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. – Hebrews 13:2 (New International Version)
Today while taking a break from being a single parent for a few days and having the kids cooped up in the house from yet another snow day, I took the kids to the Burger King near my home. This BK has a play set and I figured a good hour of play and climbing would wear them out and let them break the cabin fever.
When we got there, we were the only ones in the play area. DD was glad because she doesn’t like all the screaming that some kids do when let loose in the play areas. But after a while, we were joined by other families. What amazes me is that children at this age just treat other kids like they have known each other for years. They play well together. Older kids help the younger kids climb. You name it.
I remember one time when DD was younger she made a friend in the checkout line at a fast food restaurant. They talked and gave each other a hug. Amazing.
Wouldn’t it be great if we all had that innocence when we meet strangers. I don’t mean for us to become door mats, but just treat each other with respect and love.

I know just what you mean, Lisa. When my kids were little, I used to take them for a week of camping each summer. Within the first 24-hours, my son would have a new best friend and they would be inseparable until we headed home.
But we adults, I think, having been hurt at various times, build walls to keep out more hurt. In the process, we miss out on blessings God is sending our way. We’d all be better off if we stopped trying to protect ourselves and just trusted God to do it.
Ditto to what Jean said.
